OET (OET-LV) Therefore the Of crowd, having_heard the of_ these _messages, they_were_saying:
This is truly the prophet.
OET (OET-RV) When some in the crowd heard his teaching, they said, “He really is the coming prophet.”
The people disagreed about who Jesus was. Some thought that he might be the Messiah and others said that it was impossible because he was from Galilee.
Here are some other possible section headings:
People in the crowd disagreed about who Jesus was
People argued about Jesus
On hearing these words, some of the people said,
¶ The people/crowd heard what Jesus said. Some of them said,
¶ When the people heard his words, some of them began to say,
On hearing these words: The phrase these words means “what Jesus had said.” In some languages it may be natural to make it explicit that this refers to Jesus. For example:
When the people heard Jesus’ words (NCV)
“This is truly the Prophet.”
“This man is certainly the Prophet.”
“Jesus must be the Prophet that Moses wrote about long ago.”
This is truly the Prophet: These people believed that Jesus was the prophet that Moses said would come. This prophet would be like Moses himself. See the notes on 1:21d and 6:14b.
Here are other ways to translate this clause:
“Surely this man is the Prophet we’ve been expecting.” (NLT)
This must certainly be the Prophet. (REB)

οὖν
(Some words not found in SR-GNT: Ἐκ τοῦ ὄχλου Οὖν ἀκούσαντες τῶν λόγων τούτων ἔλεγον Οὗτος ἐστίν ἀληθῶς ὁ προφήτης)
Then here indicates that what follows is the continuation of the narrative from [7:38](../07/38.md), which John had interrupted with background information in [7:39](../07/39.md). If it would be helpful in your language, you could show reference to earlier events by translating this relationship by using a fuller phrase. Alternate translation: [After Jesus had said this about the Holy Spirit,]

ἐκ τοῦ ὄχλου
(Some words not found in SR-GNT: Ἐκ τοῦ ὄχλου Οὖν ἀκούσαντες τῶν λόγων τούτων ἔλεγον Οὗτος ἐστίν ἀληθῶς ὁ προφήτης)
See how you translated crowd in [5:13](../05/13.md).

τῶν λόγων τούτων
¬the ˱of˲_words these
John uses the term words to describe the content of what Jesus had said by referring to something associated with it, the words he used to communicate it. If this might confuse your readers, you could express the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [these things he was saying]
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit
ὁ προφήτης
the prophet
See how you translated the Prophet in [1:21](01/21.md). Alternate translation: [the Prophet whom God promised to send to us]
OET (OET-LV) Therefore the Of crowd, having_heard the of_ these _messages, they_were_saying:
This is truly the prophet.
OET (OET-RV) When some in the crowd heard his teaching, they said, “He really is the coming prophet.”
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
