OET (OET-LV)And_yourselves do_not delay pursue after enemies_your_all’s and_attack DOM_them do_not let_them to_go into cities_their if/because given_them YHWH god_your_all’s in/on/at/with_hand_your_all’s.

OET (OET-RV)but the rest of you, don’t stay there. Chase after your enemies and attack them from behind. Don’t let them get into their cities, because your God Yahweh wants you all to defeat them.

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / yousingular

But you

(Some words not found in UHB: and,yourselves not stay pursue after enemies,your_all's and,attack DOM,them not let,them to,go to/towards cities,their that/for/because/then/when given,them YHWH God,your_all's in/on/at/with,hand,your_all's )

The word you is plural here because Joshua is addressing all of soldiers other than the ones who will stay and guard the cave. So use the plural form in your translation if your language marks that distinction. Alternate translation: “But all of the rest of you”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / doublenegatives

do not stand

(Some words not found in UHB: and,yourselves not stay pursue after enemies,your_all's and,attack DOM,them not let,them to,go to/towards cities,their that/for/because/then/when given,them YHWH God,your_all's in/on/at/with,hand,your_all's )

If it would be clearer in your language, you could use a positive expression to translate this double negative that consists of the negative particle not and the verb stand, which would be negative in this context. Alternate translation: “keep moving”

Note 3 topic: grammar-connect-logic-result

Do not let them enter into their cities, because Yahweh your God has given them into your hand

(Some words not found in UHB: and,yourselves not stay pursue after enemies,your_all's and,attack DOM,them not let,them to,go to/towards cities,their that/for/because/then/when given,them YHWH God,your_all's in/on/at/with,hand,your_all's )

If it would be more natural in your language, you could reverse the order of these phrases, since the second phrase gives the reason for the result that the first phrase describes. Alternate translation: “Since Yahweh your God has given them into your hand, do not let them enter into their cities”

Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / pastforfuture

Yahweh your God has given them into your hand

(Some words not found in UHB: and,yourselves not stay pursue after enemies,your_all's and,attack DOM,them not let,them to,go to/towards cities,their that/for/because/then/when given,them YHWH God,your_all's in/on/at/with,hand,your_all's )

Joshua is using the past tense to describe something that will happen in the future in order to show that the event will certainly happen. If it would be clearer in your language, you could use the future tense. Alternate translation: “Yahweh your God will certainly give them into your hand”

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

10:1-43 Gibeon and its neighboring cities occupied a plateau north of Jerusalem (see study note on 7:2). With Gibeon now allied to Israel, control of the plateau and of the central hill country in the vicinity of Gibeon belonged to Israel. Throughout history, whoever has controlled the plateau has, in general, also controlled the hill country. The Canaanite kings had to conquer Gibeon or their cause was lost.
