OET (OET-LV) And_they_took DOM the_young_bull which someone_gave to/for_them and_they_prepared_it and_they_called on_the_name_of (the)_Baˊal from_the_morning and_unto the_noontide(s) to_say Oh_Baˊal answer_us and_there_was_not a_voice and_there_was_not one_who_answered and_they_limped_around at the_altar which he_had_made.
OET (OET-RV) So they took the bull he gave them and prepared it all, and then they called out to Baal from morning until midday, shouting, “Baal, answer us!” But they didn’t hear any voice and got no answer. Then they hopped around the altar they’d made.

(Some words not found in UHB: and=they_took DOM the_young,bull which/who he/it_gave to/for=them and,they_prepared_[it] and,they_called on,the_name_of of_(the),Baal from,the,morning and=unto the,noontide(s) to=say O,Baal answer,us and,there_[was]_not sound/voice and,there_[was]_not answered and,they_limped_around on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in the,altar which/who he/it_had_made )
The author that readers will know that he means someone gave this bull to the prophets of Baal when they chose it. An important aspect of this contest was allowing those prophets every advantage. No one chose a bull for them and gave it to them. You could indicate this explicitly in your translation if that would be helpful to your readers. Alternate translation: [that one gave to them when they chose it]
Note 2 topic: writing-pronouns
אֲשֶׁר־נָתַ֣ן לָהֶם֮
(Some words not found in UHB: and=they_took DOM the_young,bull which/who he/it_gave to/for=them and,they_prepared_[it] and,they_called on,the_name_of of_(the),Baal from,the,morning and=unto the,noontide(s) to=say O,Baal answer,us and,there_[was]_not sound/voice and,there_[was]_not answered and,they_limped_around on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in the,altar which/who he/it_had_made )
The author is using the pronoun one in a general sense, not to refer to a specific person. Use an expression for this that would be natural in your language. Alternate translation: [that was given to them]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / infostructure
וְאֵ֥ין ק֖וֹל וְאֵ֣ין עֹנֶ֑ה וַֽיְפַסְּח֔וּ עַל־הַמִּזְבֵּ֖חַ אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשָֽׂה
and,there_[was]_not sound/voice and,there_[was]_not answered (Some words not found in UHB: and=they_took DOM the_young,bull which/who he/it_gave to/for=them and,they_prepared_[it] and,they_called on,the_name_of of_(the),Baal from,the,morning and=unto the,noontide(s) to=say O,Baal answer,us and,there_[was]_not sound/voice and,there_[was]_not answered and,they_limped_around on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in the,altar which/who he/it_had_made )
If it would be more natural in your language, you may want to put the information that they limped beside the altar before the information that there was no voice, and no answering, since these prophets were limping around the altar as they called to Baal. Alternate translation: [And they limped beside the altar that one had made. But there was no voice, and there was no answering]
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy
וְאֵ֥ין ק֖וֹל וְאֵ֣ין עֹנֶ֑ה
and,there_[was]_not sound/voice and,there_[was]_not answered
Here, voice represents someone speaking or responding. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use an equivalent expression or plain language. Alternate translation: [But no one said anything or did anything in response]
Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit
וַֽיְפַסְּח֔וּ
(Some words not found in UHB: and=they_took DOM the_young,bull which/who he/it_gave to/for=them and,they_prepared_[it] and,they_called on,the_name_of of_(the),Baal from,the,morning and=unto the,noontide(s) to=say O,Baal answer,us and,there_[was]_not sound/voice and,there_[was]_not answered and,they_limped_around on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in the,altar which/who he/it_had_made )
In this context, the word limped probably describes an ecstatic, rhythmic, and jerky or hopping dance that was part of the worship ritual of the prophets of Baal. You could indicate this explicitly in your translation if that would be helpful to your readers. Alternate translation: [And they danced jerkily]

Some ancient manuscripts read “one had made.” The ULT follows that reading. Other ancient manuscripts read “they had made.” If a translation of the Bible exists in your region, you may wish to use the reading that it uses. If a translation of the Bible does not exist in your region, you may wish to use the reading of the ULT.

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
