David is stating the pronoun you separately, even though the verb translated as you know already includes this meaning. He is doing that to emphasize that Solomon knows what Joab has done, and so he has a responsibility to punish Joab. If a speaker of your language would use an explicit pronoun for the same purpose, you may want to use that construction in your translation. If not, your language may have other ways of showing the meaning here. Alternate translation: [you know quite well]

Joab did not do the things that David describes directly to David. When David says that these were things that Joab did to me, he is speaking of the effects of Joab’s actions on him. You could indicate this explicitly in your translation if that would be helpful to your readers. Alternate translation: [how Joab, the son of Zeruiah, harmed me by what he did]

David is speaking as if peace were actually a container into which Joab had put the blood of war. He means that Joab took revenge during a time of peace against people who had killed others during a war. (In [2 Samuel 3:30](../2sa/03/30.md), the author says explicitly, in the case of Abner, how wrong this was.) If it would be helpful in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [For he took revenge during a time of peace against people who had killed others during a war]

David is using the fact that Joab got the blood of his victims on his belt and sandal to indicate that Joab murdered them treacherously at close range. (Joab had pretended that he wanted to speak with Abner privately, [2 Samuel 3:26–27](../2sa/03/26.md), and he had pretended that he was coming close to Amasa to greet him [2 Samuel 20:8–10](../2sa/20/08.md).) If it would be helpful in your language, you could use an equivalent expression or plain language. Alternate translation: [and he murdered his victims treacherously at close range]
