(Some words not found in UHB: and=he/it_went_out to/towards spring_of the=waters and,threw there salt and=he/it_said thus he/it_had_said YHWH healed to_the,water the=these not will_belong from=there again/more death and,unfruitfulness )
This refers to things caused by the bad water. This also can be written in positive form. Alternate translation: “there will be no more death or problems with crops caused by this water” or “from now on this water will bring life and help the land become fruitful”
2:20-22 Elisha used a new bowl (Deut 21:3) filled with salt (Lev 2:13; Ezek 43:24) to symbolize calling upon God to purify the people and the environment. Elisha made it clear that the Lord, not he or the salt, had purified this water.
OET (OET-LV) And_he/it_went_out to the_outlet_of the_waters and_threw there salt and_he/it_said thus YHWH he_says I_have_healed to_the_water the_these not it_will_be from_there again death and_unfruitfulness.
OET (OET-RV) and he went out to the spring and threw the salt at it, and announced, “Yahweh says that he’s healed these water supplies and they’ll no longer cause death or barrenness.”
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
