OET (OET-RV) Then Mosheh told Hovav (son of the Midianite Reuel who was Mosheh’s father-in-law), “We’re heading towards the place that Yahweh said he’d give us. Come and join us, and we’ll look after you, because Yahweh has promised to look after Yisrael.”
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / exclusive
נֹסְעִ֣ים ׀ אֲנַ֗חְנוּ & אִתָּ֨נוּ֙ וְהֵטַ֣בְנוּ
setting_out we & with,us and,we_will_do_good
Here and in [10:31–32](../10/31.md), when Moses says we and us, he is including himself and the Israelites but not Hobab, to whom he is speaking, so use the exclusive form of those words if your language marks that distinction.
Note 2 topic: translate-kinship
לְ֠חֹבָב בֶּן־רְעוּאֵ֣ל הַמִּדְיָנִי֮ חֹתֵ֣ן מֹשֶׁה֒
to,Hobab son_of Rəˊū\sup_ʼēl the,Midianite father-in-law_of Mosheh
It is not totally clear which of these men was Moses’ father-in-law. See the chapter introduction for more information. Moses’ father-in-law could be: (1) Hobab. Alternate translation: [to the father-in-law of Moses, Hobab the son of Reuel the Midianite] (2) Reuel. Alternate translation: [to Hobab, the son of the father-in-law of Moses, Reuel the Midianite]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit
לְ֠חֹבָב בֶּן־רְעוּאֵ֣ל הַמִּדְיָנִי֮
to,Hobab son_of Rəˊū\sup_ʼēl the,Midianite
The phrase the Midianite could go with: (1) Hobab. Alternate translation: [to Hobab the Midianite, the son of Reuel] (2) Reuel. Alternate translation: [to Hobab, the son of Reuel the Midianite]
Note 4 topic: translate-names
לְ֠חֹבָב בֶּן־רְעוּאֵ֣ל
to,Hobab son_of Rəˊū\sup_ʼēl
The words Hobab and Reuel are the names of men.
Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / quotesinquotes
אֲשֶׁ֣ר אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה אֹת֖וֹ אֶתֵּ֣ן לָכֶ֑ם
which/who he/it_had_said YHWH DOM=him/it give to/for=you(pl)
If it would be clearer in your language, you could translate this so that there is not a quotation within a quotation. Alternate translation: [that Yahweh said that he would give to us]
Note 6 topic: grammar-connect-logic-result
לְכָ֤ה אִתָּ֨נוּ֙ וְהֵטַ֣בְנוּ לָ֔ךְ כִּֽי־יְהוָ֥ה דִּבֶּר־ט֖וֹב עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל
come, with,us and,we_will_do_good to/for=you(fs) that/for/because/then/when YHWH he/it_had_said good on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in Yisrael
The word translated as For indicates that what follows is a reason for what came before. If it would be more natural in your language, you could reverse the order of these phrases, since the second phrase gives the reason for the result that the first phrase describes. Alternate translation: [Yahweh has spoken good upon Israel. So, go with us, and we will do good to you]
Note 7 topic: figures-of-speech / go
לְכָ֤ה אִתָּ֨נוּ֙
come, with,us
In a context such as this, your language might say “Come” instead of Go. Alternate translation: [Come with us]
Note 8 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom
דִּבֶּר־ט֖וֹב עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל
he/it_had_said good on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in Yisrael
Moses is using has spoken good upon Israel as a common expression of his culture to mean “has promised to do good things for Israel.” If this phrase does not have that meaning in your language, you could use a comparable expression from your language that does have that meaning, or you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [has said that good things will happen to Israel]
Note 9 topic: figures-of-speech / 123person
עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל
on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in Yisrael
Moses is speaking of himself and his fellow Israelites in the third person as Israel. If it would be helpful in your language, you could translate this form in the first person. Alternate translation: [upon us Israelites]
OET (OET-LV) and_ Mosheh _he/it_said to_Ḩoⱱāⱱ the_son_of Rəˊūʼēl the_Midyānite the_father-in-law_of Mosheh are_about_to_set_out we to the_place which YHWH he_said DOM_him/it I_will_give to/for_you(pl) come with_us and_we_will_do_good to/for_you(fs) if/because YHWH he_has_spoken good on Yisrāʼēl/(Israel).

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
