OET (OET-LV) And_he/it_said do_not please leave us if/because therefore yes/correct/thus/so you_know encamping_our in_wilderness and_you_will_become to/for_ourselves (into)_eyes.
OET (OET-RV) “Please don’t leave us,” Mosheh insisted, “because you’re the one who knows about camping in the wilderness, and you could be our guide.
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / exclusive
אֹתָ֑נוּ & חֲנֹתֵ֨נוּ֙ & לָּ֖נוּ
,us & encamping,our & to/for=ourselves
Here and in [10:32](../10/32.md), the words us and our include Moses and the Israelites but not Hobab, to whom Moses is speaking, so use the exclusive form of these words if your language marks that distinction. Alternate translation: [myself and all the Israelites … our camping … for myself and all the Israelites]
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom
כִּ֣י ׀ עַל־כֵּ֣ן יָדַ֗עְתָּ
that/for/because/then/when on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in yes/correct/thus/so know
Moses is using For upon this as a common expression of his culture to mean “Here is why I ask.” If this phrase does not have that meaning in your language, you could use a comparable expression from your language that does have that meaning, or you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [Here is why I ask: you know]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy
חֲנֹתֵ֨נוּ֙
encamping,our
Here, camping represents places of encampment. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use an equivalent expression or plain language. Alternate translation: [where we can camp]
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom
לָּ֖נוּ לְעֵינָֽיִם
to/for=ourselves (into),eyes
Moses is using the expression for us for eyes as a common expression of his culture to mean “a guide for us.” If this phrase does not have that meaning in your language, you could use a comparable expression from your language that does have that meaning, or you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [a guide for us]
OET (OET-LV) And_he/it_said do_not please leave us if/because therefore yes/correct/thus/so you_know encamping_our in_wilderness and_you_will_become to/for_ourselves (into)_eyes.
OET (OET-RV) “Please don’t leave us,” Mosheh insisted, “because you’re the one who knows about camping in the wilderness, and you could be our guide.
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
Acknowledgements: The Hebrew text, lemmas, and morphology are all thanks to the OSHB and some of the glosses are from Macula Hebrew.
