OET (OET-RV)

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / you

וּתְקַעְתֶּ֤ם תְּרוּעָה֙ שֵׁנִ֔ית

and,blow alarm second

Here the word you is plural. Yahweh is speaking to Moses, but he his referring to the priests.

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy

וּתְקַעְתֶּ֤ם תְּרוּעָה֙ שֵׁנִ֔ית

and,blow alarm second

The priests will blow the trumpets, Moses will not. Alternate translation: “And they shall blow a second blast”

Note 3 topic: translate-ordinal

(Occurrence 0) the second time

(Some words not found in UHB: and,blow alarm second and,set_out the,camps the,pitched south,on alarm blown for,set_out_of,they )

Alternate translation: “time number 2” or “again”

(Occurrence 0) They must blow a loud signal for their journeys

(Some words not found in UHB: and,blow alarm second and,set_out the,camps the,pitched south,on alarm blown for,set_out_of,they )

Alternate translation: “They” refers to the priests and the word “their” refers to the people of Israel.

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

10:1-10 Israel needed signals that were loud and clear so that the tribes could receive instructions. Two silver trumpets provided a simple, effective means to signal all the tribes to move.
• These trumpets were not the ram’s horns (Hebrew shopar) mentioned frequently in the Old Testament (e.g., Josh 6:4-6); they were fashioned by Israelite craftsmen from hammered silver brought out of Egypt.
