Section 2:1–22: Second lesson: Wisdom will spare you from the dangers of crime and adultery

Here is a summary of the advice in this section: If you accept what I teach and seek to become wise (2:1–4), you will indeed become wise, and because of your wisdom, you will know how to revere the LORD and how to do what is right. You will also be protected (2:5–11). Wisdom will protect you from wicked men (2:12–15) and from adulterous women (2:16–19). Consequently, you will follow a righteous lifestyle and enjoy a long life in your own land, but the wicked will be forced to leave their land (2:20–22).

Some versions such as the BSB start a new paragraph at 2:9 to indicate the second result of desiring wisdom.2.9 Also see the NIV and the GNT. You will need to decide whether it is better in your language to start a new paragraph here or to continue the same paragraph, as in the RSV and NJB.

Then you will discern righteousness and justice and equity—every good path.

¶ If you^(sing) truly desire to become wise, then you will also understand/know what is right to do and how to be just and fair. You will know the right way to conduct yourself.
¶ If you heed my advice, then you will also know everything that is right and just to do, and you will not show favoritism.

Then: The word Then introduces the second result of the conditions given in 2:1–4 (the first result was given in 2:5). The GNT makes this connection explicit by repeating the condition from 2:1. It has:

In some languages, it may be possible to express righteousness and justice and equity with one word. It may also be possible to express “fair/equitable” by a negative expression, such as “not show favoritism.”

every good path: This phrase summarizes everything that is right and just and fair. It refers to a way of life that leads a person to do what is morally good. Some ways to translate this phrase are:
