OET (OET-LV)Because_of this the heart of_me was_gladdened, and the tongue of_me exulted, and still also the flesh of_me will_be_nesting in hope,

OET (OET-RV)Because of that, I was happy and spoke out my praises. My whole body lives in anticipation

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / quotesinquotes

διὰ τοῦτο ηὐφράνθη ἡ καρδία μου, καὶ ἠγαλλιάσατο ἡ γλῶσσά μου; ἔτι δὲ καὶ ἡ σάρξ μου κατασκηνώσει ἐπ’ ἐλπίδι

because_of this /was/_gladdened (Some words not found in SR-GNT: διὰ τοῦτο ηὐφράνθη μου ἡ καρδία καὶ ἠγαλλιάσατο ἡ γλῶσσά μου ἔτι δὲ καὶ ἡ σάρξ μου κατασκηνώσει ἐπʼ ἐλπίδι)

You may have decided to turn Peter’s quotation of David into an indirect quotation in order to avoid having a second-level quotation. Alternate translation: “Because of this, his heart was glad and his tongue exulted, and indeed his flesh would also dwell in hope”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor

ηὐφράνθη ἡ καρδία μου

/was/_gladdened (Some words not found in SR-GNT: διὰ τοῦτο ηὐφράνθη μου ἡ καρδία καὶ ἠγαλλιάσατο ἡ γλῶσσά μου ἔτι δὲ καὶ ἡ σάρξ μου κατασκηνώσει ἐπʼ ἐλπίδι)

Here, the heart represents the emotions. Alternate translation: “I felt glad”

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy

ἠγαλλιάσατο ἡ γλῶσσά μου

exulted the tongue ˱of˲_me

Here, the tongue represents the capacity for speech. Alternate translation: “I said joyful things”

Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy

καὶ ἡ σάρξ μου κατασκηνώσει ἐπ’ ἐλπίδι

and also the flesh ˱of˲_me /will_be/_nesting in hope

Here, flesh means the human body by association with the way that is made of flesh. Alternate translation: “my body will also dwell in hope”

Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns

καὶ ἡ σάρξ μου κατασκηνώσει ἐπ’ ἐλπίδι

and also the flesh ˱of˲_me /will_be/_nesting in hope

If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea behind the word hope, you could express the same idea with an adverb such as “hopefully.” Alternate translation: “my body will also live hopefully”

Note 6 topic: figures-of-speech / personification

καὶ ἡ σάρξ μου κατασκηνώσει ἐπ’ ἐλπίδι

and also the flesh ˱of˲_me /will_be/_nesting in hope

The Messiah is speaking as if his body itself would live hopefully. Alternate translation: “I will also have hope for my body”

Note 7 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit

καὶ ἡ σάρξ μου κατασκηνώσει ἐπ’ ἐλπίδι

and also the flesh ˱of˲_me /will_be/_nesting in hope

If it would be helpful to your readers, you could state explicitly what hope the Messiah had for his body. Alternate translation: “I will also have hope that God will bring my body back to life after I die”

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

2:14-36 This is the first of about thirty speeches in Acts and one of the most important, standing as it does at the very inception of the church. It is a typical example of the preaching of the apostles, who proclaimed (1) that the Old Testament promises had been fulfilled in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, who is the promised Messiah; (2) that the apostles themselves were eyewitnesses of Jesus’ entire public ministry and were his chosen representatives; (3) that people are called to repent of their sins and have faith in God through Christ; and (4) that salvation and the presence of the Holy Spirit are promised to those who respond affirmatively to this message of Good News. This basic message is echoed in the sermons of chs 3, 4, 5, 8, 10, and 13. The same themes characterized Paul’s preaching (see 1 Cor 15:3-9). This message was repeatedly preached to both Jews and Gentiles throughout the Mediterranean world; all people are summoned to repent of their sins and turn to God through faith in Jesus Christ.
