OET (OET-LV) If/because are_a_people holy you to/for_YHWH god_of_your and_in/on/at/with_you YHWH he_has_chosen to_be to_him/it as_people_of possession from_all the_peoples which are_on the_surface_of the_soil.
Note 1 topic: grammar-connect-logic-result
כִּ֣י
that/for/because/then/when
The word translated as for indicates that what follows is the reason the Israelites were not to show their mourning as the other people groups around them did. Use a connector in your language that makes it clear that what follows is a reason for what came before. Alternate translation: [because]
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / parallelism
כִּ֣י עַ֤ם קָדוֹשׁ֙ אַתָּ֔ה לַיהוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ וּבְךָ֞ בָּחַ֣ר יְהוָ֗ה לִֽהְי֥וֹת לוֹ֙ לְעַ֣ם סְגֻלָּ֔ה
that/for/because/then/when people holy you(ms) to/for=YHWH God_of,your and,in/on/at/with,you chosen YHWH to=be to=him/it as,people_of treasured_possession
These two clauses mean basically the same thing. The second clause emphasizes the meaning of the first by repeating the same idea with different words. If it would be helpful to your readers, you could connect the clauses with a word other than and that shows that the second clause is repeating the first one, not saying something additional. Alternate translation: [for you are a nation set apart for Yahweh your God, indeed, he has chosen you to be a people for his possession]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / youcrowd
אַתָּ֔ה & אֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ וּבְךָ֞
you(ms) & God_of,your and,in/on/at/with,you
Even though Moses is speaking to a group of people, you and your are singular here. If the singular forms of these pronouns would not be natural in your language, you could use the plural forms in your translation.
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy
עַל־פְּנֵ֥י הָאֲדָמָֽה
on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in face/surface_of the=soil
See how you translated the phrase the face of the earth in [6:15](../06/15.md). Alternate translation: [are anywhere on the earth] or [are on the earth]
14:2 The fundamental Hebrew meaning of holy focuses on separation of a person or thing for a particular function or use. A derivative meaning is “pure” or “morally and spiritually upright.”

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
Acknowledgements: The Hebrew text, lemmas, and morphology are all thanks to the OSHB and some of the glosses are from Macula Hebrew.
