OET (OET-RV)

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / ellipsis

כָּרִ֣אשֹׁנִ֔ים

like_the,former

Moses is leaving out some of the words that in many languages a sentence would need in order to be complete. You could supply these words from earlier in the sentence if it would be clearer in your language. Alternate translation: [like the first tablets of stone]

Note 2 topic: translate-ordinal

כָּרִ֣אשֹׁנִ֔ים

like_the,former

If your language does not use ordinal numbers, you could use a cardinal number here or an equivalent expression. Alternate translation: [like the earlier]

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit

הָהָ֑רָה

the,mountain,on

This refers to Mount Sinai. You could include this information if it would be helpful for your readers. Alternate translation: [on Mount Sinai]

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

10:1 The Ark was a gold-plated wooden chest that contained the stone tablets; it was kept in the Most Holy Place in the Tabernacle or Temple (Exod 25:10). Later, a pot of manna and Aaron’s flowering rod were also placed in the Ark (Heb 9:4). The Ark was the throne upon which the invisible Lord sat on earth among his people (see study notes on Exod 25:22 and Lev 16:2).

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
