OET (OET-LV)And_now a_petition one I am_asking from_with_you do_not turn_away DOM faces_of_me and_she/it_said to_him/it speak.

OET (OET-RV)So now, I have only one thing to request from you—please don’t refuse me.”
¶ “Go on,” she said.

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: writing-poetry

שְׁאֵלָ֤ה אַחַת֙ אָֽנֹכִי֙ שֹׁאֵ֣ל מֵֽאִתָּ֔ךְ

request one(fs) I asking from,with,you

Here, requesting one request is an emphatic construction that uses a verb and its object that come from the same root. You may be able to use the same construction in your language to express the meaning here. Alternatively, your language may have another way of showing the emphasis. Alternate translation: “I am making one request of you”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor

אַל־תָּשִׁ֖בִי אֶת־פָּנָ֑י

not you_refuse DOM faces_of,me

Here Adonijah speaks as if Bathsheba might physically turn back his face. He means that she might reject his request and shame him. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use a comparable figure of speech or state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: “do not shame me by rejecting me” or “do not say no to what I request”

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

2:16-18 let me marry Abishag: Possessing the king’s concubine was a mark of royal legitimacy. When David became king, he was given Saul’s wives (2 Sam 12:7-8). The rebellious Absalom claimed David’s concubines (2 Sam 16:20-22).
