The pronoun they refers to Jehu and Jehonadab. (The author is probably referring to how they came in to the part of the temple where the altar was.) It may be helpful to clarify this for your readers. Alternate translation: [And Jehu and Jehonadab came in]

The author is providing background information to help readers understand what happens next in the story. In your translation, introduce this information in a way that would be natural in your own language and culture.

life_of,his (Some words not found in UHB: and=they_came for=doing sacrifices and,burnt_offerings and,Jehu stationed to=him/it on,outside eighty (a)_man and=he/it_said the=man which/who lets_~_escape from/more_than the,men which/who I placing on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in hands_of,your(pl) life_of,his below/instead_of life_of,his )
Jehu was using his life in place of his life as a common expression of his culture to mean that any of the men he was stationing outside would forfeit his own life if he allowed any of the men from inside the temple to escape. If this phrase does not have that meaning in your language, you could use a comparable expression from your language that does have that meaning, or you could state the meaning plainly. If you have already translated the book of 1 Kings, see how you translated the similar expression in [1 Kings 20:39](../1ki/20/39.md). Alternate translation: [the one of you who lets him escape will pay for that with his life] or [we will execute the one of you who lets him get away]

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
