OET (OET-LV)when wishfully I_may_be_going to the Spania, because/for I_am_hoping passing_through to_see you_all, and by you_all to_be_sent_forward there, if of_you_all first in part I_may_be_filled.

OET (OET-RV)whenever I’m able to go to Spain next I’m hoping to see you on my way, and then after spending time with you all, you’ll be able to send me on to my destination.

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: translate-names

τὴν Σπανίαν

¬the Spain

At that time, Spain was a Roman province west of Rome.

Note 2 topic: grammar-connect-time-simultaneous

διαπορευόμενος

passing_through

This clause indicates something that would happen at the same time as the next clause. You can make this clear in your translation with an appropriate connecting word or phrase. Alternate translation: “while passing through”

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit

διαπορευόμενος

passing_through

Paul implies that he would be passing through Rome on his way to Spain. If it would be helpful in your language, you could state this explicitly. Alternate translation: “passing through Rome”

Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive

ὑφ’ ὑμῶν προπεμφθῆναι ἐκεῖ, ἐὰν ὑμῶν πρῶτον ἀπὸ μέρους ἐμπλησθῶ

by you_all /to_be/_sent_forward there if ˱of˲_you_all first in part ˱I˲_/may_be/_filled

If your language does not use the passive form in this way, you can state this in active form or in another way that is natural in your language. Alternate translation: “for you to send me ahead to there, if you might first satisfy me for a while”

Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / euphemism

ὑφ’ ὑμῶν προπεμφθῆναι ἐκεῖ

by you_all /to_be/_sent_forward there

Here, sent ahead refers to receiving supplies needed for a journey. This is a polite way of asking for food or money. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use a different polite way of referring to this or you could state this plainly. Alternate translation: “to be given some provisions for my journey to there by you”

ἐὰν ὑμῶν πρῶτον ἀπὸ μέρους ἐμπλησθῶ

if ˱of˲_you_all first in part ˱I˲_/may_be/_filled

Alternate translation: “if I might first enjoy being with you for a while”

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

15:24 I am planning to go to Spain: In Paul’s day, “Spain” included the entire Iberian Peninsula (modern Spain and Portugal). Parts of the peninsula had been occupied by the Romans since 200 BC, but only within Paul’s lifetime had the area been organized into a Roman province. Paul saw Spain, at the far end of the Mediterranean, as his final target in fulfilling the promise of Isa 66:19-20.
• you can provide for my journey: Spain was so far from Paul’s previous sending church, Antioch in Syria, that he hoped the Roman church could serve as the logistical base for this future evangelistic effort.

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.

Acknowledgements: The SR Greek text, lemmas, morphology, and VLT gloss are all thanks to the SR-GNT.
