24:24 OSHB note: We read one or more accents in L differently than BHS. Often this notation indicates a typographical error in BHS.
OET (OET-RV) “No,” the king answered. “I’ll definitely buy it from you. I couldn’t offer something to my god Yahweh that cost me nothing.”
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / reduplication
קָנ֨וֹ אֶקְנֶ֤ה
to_buy buy
David is repeating forms of the verb buy in order to intensify his expression of the idea that it conveys. If your language can repeat words for intensification, it would be appropriate to do that here in your translation. If not, your language may have another way of expressing the intensification. Alternate translation: [I will certainly buy it]
Note 2 topic: translate-bweight
שְׁקָלִ֥ים חֲמִשִּֽׁים

These 50 shekels of silver weighed about 570 grams or 1.25 pounds. In your translation, you could use the ancient measurement and spell the word “shekel” the way it sounds in your language. You could also use the metric measurement given in the UST or use the measurement that your language and culture customarily use. Alternatively, you could use the ancient measurement and put a modern measurement in parentheses in the text or in a footnote. Alternate translation: [570 grams of silver] or [50 pieces of silver weighing about one and a quarter pounds]

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
Acknowledgements: The Hebrew text, lemmas, and morphology are all thanks to the OSHB and some of the glosses are from Macula Hebrew.
