Although the term sons is masculine, Joshua is using the word here in a generic sense that includes both male and female descendants. Alternate translation: “your children”

Joshua is speaking as if the children of this generation of Israelites would ask about the stones on the day after this event, tomorrow. He is using the term to mean “in the future.” Many languages use this word in the same way, but if it would be clearer in your language, you could state the meaning plainly.
