Here, so that marks they do not teach you to do like any of their abominations as the goal or purpose of the command to destroy these nations in the previous verse. Moses is explaining that the Israelites must destroy these nations to prevent them from teaching the Israelites to worship false gods. Alternate translation: [in order to prevent them from teaching you to do the detestable things] or [to make sure they cannot teach you to imitate their disgusting practices]

The word translated as for indicates that what follows is a reason for what came before. Moses explains that the reason the Israelites should not learn the practices of these nations is that doing so would be sinning against Yahweh.
