OET (OET-LV) And_you_will_turn_back to YHWH god_of_your and_you_will_listen to_voice_of_his according_to_all that I am_commanding_of_you the_day you and_children_of_your in_all heart_of_your and_on/over_all being_of_your.
OET (OET-RV) and you and your children decide to return to your god Yahweh and listen to his voice, and sincerely and diligently follow everything that I’m commanding you today,
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
וְשַׁבְתָּ֞ עַד־יְהוָ֤ה
(Some words not found in UHB: and,you_will_turn_back until YHWH God_of,your and,you_will_listen to,voice_of,his according,to_all which/who I [am]_commanding_of,you the=day you(ms) and,children_of,your in=all heart_of,your and=on/over=all being_of,your )
Moses is speaking of the Israelites as if they had been walking away from God but could return to walk back to him. He means that they should stop living in ways that are displeasing to God and instead live in the manner in which God wants people to live. If it would be helpful in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [and once again you begin to obey Yahweh]
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit
וְשָׁמַעְתָּ֣ בְקֹל֔וֹ
(Some words not found in UHB: and,you_will_turn_back until YHWH God_of,your and,you_will_listen to,voice_of,his according,to_all which/who I [am]_commanding_of,you the=day you(ms) and,children_of,your in=all heart_of,your and=on/over=all being_of,your )
Moses assumes that readers will know that listen as it is used here, includes the meaning of “obey.” You could say that explicitly if that would be helpful to your readers. Alternate translation: [listen to and obey his voice]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy
וְשָׁמַעְתָּ֣ בְקֹל֔וֹ
(Some words not found in UHB: and,you_will_turn_back until YHWH God_of,your and,you_will_listen to,voice_of,his according,to_all which/who I [am]_commanding_of,you the=day you(ms) and,children_of,your in=all heart_of,your and=on/over=all being_of,your )
Here, his voice represents what God said by using words. If it would be clearer in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [and listen to what he commands]
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / gendernotations
וּבָנֶ֔יךָ
and,children_of,your
Here the masculine term sons has a generic sense that includes both men and women. If it would be helpful to your readers, you could use language in your translation that is clearly inclusive of both men and women. Alternate translation: [children]
Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / merism
בְּכָל־לְבָבְךָ֖ וּבְכָל־נַפְשֶֽׁךָ
(Some words not found in UHB: and,you_will_turn_back until YHWH God_of,your and,you_will_listen to,voice_of,his according,to_all which/who I [am]_commanding_of,you the=day you(ms) and,children_of,your in=all heart_of,your and=on/over=all being_of,your )
Moses is referring to all of a person by naming two major components, heart and soul. These terms are used together to mean “completely” or “wholeheartedly.” See how you translated the expression “with all your heart and with all your soul” in [4:29](../04/29.md). If it would be helpful in your language, you could use an equivalent expression or plain language. Alternate translation: [with all your being] or [wholeheartedly]
OET (OET-LV) And_you_will_turn_back to YHWH god_of_your and_you_will_listen to_voice_of_his according_to_all that I am_commanding_of_you the_day you and_children_of_your in_all heart_of_your and_on/over_all being_of_your.
OET (OET-RV) and you and your children decide to return to your god Yahweh and listen to his voice, and sincerely and diligently follow everything that I’m commanding you today,
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
