OET (OET-LV) And_ YHWH _he_will_circumcise god_of_your DOM heart_of_your and_DOM the_heart_of your_offspring_of_your to_love DOM YHWH god_of_your in_all heart_of_your and_on/over_all being_of_your for_the_sake_of your(ms)_life.
OET (OET-RV) He will ‘circumcise the heart of’ (remove the evil motives from) you and your children to release you to love your god Yahweh with total sincerity and diligently, so that you can live.
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
וּמָ֨ל יְהוָ֧ה אֱלֹהֶ֛יךָ אֶת־לְבָבְךָ֖ וְאֶת־לְבַ֣ב זַרְעֶ֑ךָ
and,he_will_circumcise YHWH God_of,your DOM heart_of,your and=DOM heart_of your_offspring_of,your
Here Moses is speaking as if God would literally perform the physical act to circumcise the heart of the Israelites and the heart of your seed (their descendants). He means that God will remove whatever prevents them from loving and obeying him completely. If it would be helpful in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [And Yahweh your God will enable you and your descendants to love him wholeheartedly] or [And Yahweh your God will change your heart and the heart of your descendants]
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
זַרְעֶ֑ךָ
your_offspring_of,your
Here Moses is speaking as if the Israelites’ offspring were seed. Your language may have a comparable expression that you can use in your translation, or you could state the meaning plainly. See the Introduction to Deuteronomy for a discussion of this use of the term “seed.” Alternate translation: [your descendants] or [your offspring]
Note 3 topic: grammar-connect-logic-goal
לְאַהֲבָ֞ה אֶת־יְהוָ֧ה אֱלֹהֶ֛יךָ בְּכָל־לְבָבְךָ֥ וּבְכָל־נַפְשְׁךָ֖ לְמַ֥עַן חַיֶּֽיךָ
to,love DOM YHWH God_of,your (Some words not found in UHB: and,he_will_circumcise YHWH God_of,your DOM heart_of,your and=DOM heart_of your_offspring_of,your to,love DOM YHWH God_of,your in=all heart_of,your and=on/over=all being_of,your so_that your(ms)=life )
Here, to the love of marks so that you may live as the goal or purpose of Yahweh your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your seed. Use a connector in your language that makes it clear that this is the purpose. Alternate translation: [so that you will love Yahweh your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and so that you may live]
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / merism
בְּכָל־לְבָבְךָ֥ וּבְכָל־נַפְשְׁךָ֖
(Some words not found in UHB: and,he_will_circumcise YHWH God_of,your DOM heart_of,your and=DOM heart_of your_offspring_of,your to,love DOM YHWH God_of,your in=all heart_of,your and=on/over=all being_of,your so_that your(ms)=life )
See how you translated the expression “with all your heart and with all your soul” in [verse 2](../30/02.md). Alternate translation: [with all your being] or [wholeheartedly]
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
Acknowledgements: The Hebrew text, lemmas, and morphology are all thanks to the OSHB and some of the glosses are from Macula Hebrew.
