uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / ellipsis

וַיָּ֣הָם יְ֠הוָה אֶת־סִֽיסְרָ֨א וְאֶת־כָּל־הָרֶ֧כֶב וְאֶת־כָּל־הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֛ה לְפִי־חֶ֖רֶב לִפְנֵ֣י בָרָ֑ק

and,routed YHWH DOM Şīşərāʼ and=DOM all/each/any/every the,chariots and=DOM all/each/any/every the,army by,edge sword to=(the)_face_of/in_front_of/before Bārāq's

The author is leaving out some of the words that in many languages a sentence would need in order to be complete. You can supply these words from the context if that would be clearer in your language. Alternate translation: “And Yahweh panicked Sisera and all of the chariotry and all of the army, with the result that Barak and his army were able to attack them and kill large numbers of them”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom

לְפִי־חֶ֖רֶב

by,edge sword

See the discussion of this phrase in the General Introduction to Judges. Alternate translation: “since there was wholesale slaughter”

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / explicitinfo

וַיָּ֥נָס בְּרַגְלָֽיו

and,fled in/on/at/with,foot,him

It might seem that this expression contains extra information that your language would not naturally express. If so, you can shorten it. Alternate translation: “and ran away”

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

4:14-16 Mount Tabor, with its forest cover, was a strategic location, and the rush down the hill must have surprised the unsuspecting Canaanites. The battle was won, however, because it was the Lord’s war, not because of human strategy and tactics.
• Nothing is said here about why the chariots were so ineffective; this awaits the poetic version of the account (5:21).
