OET (OET-LV) And_told to_king of_Yərīḩō to_say here men they_have_come hither the_night from_(the)_sons of_Yisrāʼēl/(Israel) to_search_out DOM the_earth/land.
OET (OET-RV) However, someone told Yericho’s king, “Listen, some Israeli men arrived here tonight to check out our land.”
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive
וַיֵּ֣אָמַ֔ר לְמֶ֥לֶךְ יְרִיח֖וֹ
(Some words not found in UHB: and,told to,king Yərīḩō/(Jericho) to=say see/lo/see! men they_went they(f) the=night from=(the)_sons Yisrael to,search_out DOM the=earth/land )
If your language does not use the passive form in this way, you can state this in active form or in another way that is natural in your language. Alternate translation: “And someone told the king of Jericho”
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
הִנֵּ֣ה
(Some words not found in UHB: and,told to,king Yərīḩō/(Jericho) to=say see/lo/see! men they_went they(f) the=night from=(the)_sons Yisrael to,search_out DOM the=earth/land )
The person addressing the king is speaking as if he wants him to look at something, but he is actually using the term Behold to focus attention on what he is about to say. Your language may have a comparable expression that you could use in your translation.
2:2 The spies’ speech probably gave them away. Hebrew and Canaanite were both dialects of the same language but with differences in vocabulary and grammar.
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
