The people were stating the pronoun you explicitly in order to draw a contrast between what Solomon had done and what they wanted Rehoboam to do. See how you translated the similar expression in [12:4](../12/04.md). Alternate translation: [but for your part, make light from upon us] or [but for your part, make us work less hard]

Here, Rehoboam is speaking as if his little finger were actually thicker than his father’s loins (his hips, the widest part of his body). He means that he has much greater power and authority than his father did. Your language may have a comparable expression that you can use in your translation, or you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [I have much greater power and authority than my father did]
