OET (OET-RV) “Your father Shelomoh required us to contribute too much labour. If you’ll lighten the burden on us, then we’ll serve you.”

אָבִ֖יךָ הִקְשָׁ֣ה אֶת־עֻלֵּ֑נוּ וְאַתָּ֡ה עַתָּ֣ה הָקֵל֩ מֵעֲבֹדַ֨ת אָבִ֜יךָ הַקָּשָׁ֗ה וּמֵעֻלּ֧וֹ הַכָּבֵ֛ד אֲשֶׁר־נָתַ֥ן עָלֵ֖ינוּ
I_will_show=you(ms) (Some words not found in UHB: I_will_show=you(ms) heavy DOM yoke_of,our and=you(ms) now lighten some,of_the_service_of I_will_show=you(ms) (the),hard and,some,of,his_yoke (the),heavy which/who he/it_gave on,us and,we,will_serve_you )
The Israelites are speaking as if the labor that Solomon required of them were actually a yoke that he had put on them. They mean that Solomon’s requirements were difficult and burdensome. Your language may have a comparable expression that you can use in your translation, or you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [Your father made us work very hard. But you, now make us work less hard than we did when we were serving your father, who made us work so hard]
Note 2 topic: writing-pronouns
וְאַתָּ֡ה עַתָּ֣ה הָקֵל֩
(Some words not found in UHB: I_will_show=you(ms) heavy DOM yoke_of,our and=you(ms) now lighten some,of_the_service_of I_will_show=you(ms) (the),hard and,some,of,his_yoke (the),heavy which/who he/it_gave on,us and,we,will_serve_you )
Jeroboam and the Israelite leaders are stating the pronoun you separately, even though the imperative verb translated as make … lighter already includes this meaning. They are doing that in order to emphasize a contrast between what Solomon did and what they want Rehoboam to do. See how you translated the expression “he, he cursed” in [2:8](../02/08.md), which similarly emphasizes a contrast. Alternate translation: [But for your part, now make it lighter]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / doublet
עַתָּ֣ה הָקֵל֩ מֵעֲבֹדַ֨ת אָבִ֜יךָ הַקָּשָׁ֗ה וּמֵעֻלּ֧וֹ הַכָּבֵ֛ד אֲשֶׁר־נָתַ֥ן עָלֵ֖ינוּ
(Some words not found in UHB: I_will_show=you(ms) heavy DOM yoke_of,our and=you(ms) now lighten some,of_the_service_of I_will_show=you(ms) (the),hard and,some,of,his_yoke (the),heavy which/who he/it_gave on,us and,we,will_serve_you )
The terms hard service and heavy yoke mean similar things. The people are using the two terms together for emphasis. If it would be clearer for your readers, you could express the emphasis with a single phrase. Alternate translation: [now make it lighter than the heavy yoke that your father put on us as a hard master] or [now let us work less hard than we did when we were serving your father]
OET (OET-LV) I_will_show_you(ms) he_made_hard DOM yoke_of_our and_you(ms) now lighten some_of_the_service_of I_will_show_you(ms) (the)_hard and_some_of_his_yoke (the)_heavy which he_put on_us and_we_will_serve_you.
OET (OET-RV) “Your father Shelomoh required us to contribute too much labour. If you’ll lighten the burden on us, then we’ll serve you.”
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
