OET (OET-RV) When Eliyah arrived, Ahav asked him, “Ah, my enemy. Have you found me?”
¶ “Yes, I’ve found you,” Eliyah replied. “It seems you’ve sold your soul by doing what Yahweh’s finds to be evil.
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / rquestion
הַֽמְצָאתַ֖נִי אֹיְבִ֑י
have,you,found_me? my_enemy_of,my
Ahab is using the question form for emphasis. If a speaker of your language would not use the question form for that purpose, you could translate this as a statement or as an exclamation. Alternate translation: [So, you have found me, my enemy!]
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom
הַֽמְצָאתַ֖נִי
have,you,found_me?
Ahab is using Have you found me as a common expression of his culture to mean “So, you have caught me” or “You have discovered what I have done.” If this phrase does not have that meaning in your language, you could use a comparable expression from your language that does have that meaning, or you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [Have you apprehended me] or [Have you discovered what I did]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit
אֹיְבִ֑י
my_enemy_of,my
Ahab is calling Elijah my enemy to mean that Elijah has come as the avenger of Ahab’s crime against Naboth. You could indicate this explicitly in your translation if that would be helpful to your readers. Alternate translation: [my avenger]
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom
הִתְמַכֶּרְךָ֔ לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת הָרַ֖ע
(Some words not found in UHB: and=he/it_said ʼAḩʼāⱱ to/towards ʼĒliyyāh have,you,found_me? my_enemy_of,my and=he/it_said found because you,have_sold_yourself for=doing the,evil in/on=both_eyes_of YHWH )
Elijah is using you have sold yourself as a common expression of his culture to mean that Ahab has allowed doing evil to take complete control of his life. If this phrase does not have that meaning in your language, you could use a comparable expression from your language that does have that meaning, or you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [you have surrendered yourself completely to doing evil] or [you have given in completely to doing evil]
Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns
הָרַ֖ע
the,evil
If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea of evil, you could express the same idea in another way. Alternate translation: [what is evil]
Note 6 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom
בְּעֵינֵ֥י יְהוָֽה
(Some words not found in UHB: and=he/it_said ʼAḩʼāⱱ to/towards ʼĒliyyāh have,you,found_me? my_enemy_of,my and=he/it_said found because you,have_sold_yourself for=doing the,evil in/on=both_eyes_of YHWH )
See how you translated the similar expression in [3:10](../03/10.md). Alternate translation: [in the judgment of Yahweh]

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
