Some ancient manuscripts read, “Yahweh said he would dwell in a dark cloud.” The ULT follows that reading. Other ancient manuscripts read, “For Yahweh set the sun in the heavens, but he said he would dwell in a thick cloud.” If a translation of the Bible exists in your region, you may wish to use the reading that it uses. If a translation of the Bible does not exist in your region, you may wish to use the reading of the ULT.

Solomon assumes that his listeners will know that he referring to what Yahweh said to Moses about how he would be present with the Box when it was in the tent of meeting, “I will appear in a cloud over the atonement lid” ([Leviticus 16:2](../lev/16/02.md)). You could indicate this explicitly in your translation if that would be helpful to your readers. Alternate translation: [Yahweh told Moses that he would dwell in a dark cloud in the sacred tent]
