וַאֲרֻחָת֗וֹ אֲרֻחַ֨ת תָּמִ֧יד נִתְּנָה־לּ֛וֹ מֵאֵ֥ת הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ
and,his_food_of,allowance allowance_of (Some words not found in UHB: and,his_food_of,allowance allowance_of regular given for=him/it from,with the=king message/matter_of day in=its=day all days_of his_life_of,his )
It might seem that this expression contains extra information that would not be natural to express in your language. If so, you can shorten it. Alternate translation: [And a continual allowance was given to him from the king]

The expression was given is a passive verbal form. If your language would not use that form, you could express the idea in active form or in another way that would be natural in your language. Alternate translation: [And the king gave him a continual allowance]

הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ דְּבַר־י֣וֹם בְּיוֹמ֑וֹ
(Some words not found in UHB: and,his_food_of,allowance allowance_of regular given for=him/it from,with the=king message/matter_of day in=its=day all days_of his_life_of,his )
The author is using the matter of a day in its day as a common expression of his culture to mean “at a fixed daily rate.” (He does not necessarily mean that the allowance was paid out each day, but that it was calculated at a daily rate.) If this phrase does not have that meaning in your language, you could use a comparable expression from your language that does have that meaning, or you could state the meaning plainly. If you have already translated the book of Nehemiah, see how you translated the same expression in [Nehemiah 11:23](../neh/11/23.md). Alternate translation: [at a fixed daily rate]

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
