OET (OET-LV) And_ YHWH _he/it_said to Mosheh do_not fear DOM_him/it if/because in_hand_of_your I_have_given DOM_him/it and_DOM all_of people_of_his and_DOM land_of_his and_you_will_do for_him/it just_as you_did to_Şīḩōn the_king_of the_ʼAmorī who was_dwelling in_Ḩeshbōn.
OET (OET-RV) Yahweh said to Mosheh, “Don’t be afraid of him because I’ve given him and all his people and his land to you, and you’ll be able to do to him what you did to the Amorite King Sihon who lived at Heshbon.”
Note 1 topic: grammar-connect-logic-result
וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוָ֤ה אֶל מֹשֶׁה֙ אַל תִּירָ֣א אֹת֔וֹ כִּ֣י בְיָדְךָ֞ נָתַ֧תִּי אֹת֛וֹ וְאֶת כָּל עַמּ֖וֹ וְאֶת אַרְצ֑וֹ
and=he/it_said YHWH to/towards Mosheh not fear DOM=him/it that/for/because/then/when in,hand_of,your I_give DOM=him/it and=DOM all/each/any/every people_of,his and=DOM land_of,his
The word translated as for indicates that what follows is a reason for what came before. Use a connector in your language that makes it clear that what follows is a reason for what came before. Alternate translation: [And Yahweh said to Moses, “Do not fear him, because I have given him and all his people and his land into your hand.]
Note 2 topic: writing-quotations
וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוָ֤ה אֶל מֹשֶׁה֙
and=he/it_said YHWH to/towards Mosheh
The term said introduces a direct quotation. In your translation, use a natural way of introducing direct quotations in your language. It may not be necessary to represent this term explicitly.
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / imperative
אַל תִּירָ֣א אֹת֔וֹ
not fear DOM=him/it
The words translated as Do not fear are an imperative, but they communicate a condition rather than a command. If the imperative does not communicate a condition for your readers, then use a form in your language that communicates a condition. Alternate translation: [Since you have no need to fear him]
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / infostructure
בְיָדְךָ֞ נָתַ֧תִּי אֹת֛וֹ
in,hand_of,your I_give DOM=him/it
If it would be more natural in your language, you may want to put the information about Yahweh giving Og before the phrase into your hand. Alternate translation: [I have given him into your hand]
Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy
בְיָדְךָ֞
in,hand_of,your
Here, hand represents the control of a person. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use an equivalent expression or plain language. Alternate translation: [into your control]
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
Acknowledgements: The Hebrew text, lemmas, and morphology are all thanks to the OSHB and some of the glosses are from Macula Hebrew.
