OET (OET-LV)I_have_known of_you the works, and the love, and the faith, and the service, and the endurance of_you, and the works of_you, the last more than the first.

OET (OET-RV)“I know what you’ve been doing, and about your love and faith, and your service and endurance, and what you’re doing now is better than what you first did.

SIL Open Translator’s Notes:

Section 2:18–29: Jesus spoke to the church at Thyatira

In this section, Jesus spoke to the people who believed in him at Thyatira. He saw that they had grown in their faith. Jesus warned them about allowing an immoral woman named Jezebel to remain among them. He encouraged the believers who had not followed Jezebel’s sinful teachings to remain faithful. Lastly, he gave a promise for any believer who persevered in his faith.

Translate this heading as you did for the other messages to the churches.

2:19a

I know your deeds—your love, your faith,

I know your deeds: The Greek word that the BSB translates as deeds means “actions” or “activities.” You should translate this clause as you did in 2:2.

The phrase I know refers to the whole list in 2:19a–c.

your: The pronoun your refers to the angel of this church as the representative of the believers there. In some languages it is more natural to use plural pronouns here. See how you translated the pronoun “your” in 2:2 or 2:13.

your love, your faith: In some languages it is necessary or more natural to express the nouns love and faith as verbs. For example:

the way you love and the way you believe

2:19b

your service, your perseverance—

service: This word refers to the work of helping others. An example of this is the seven deacons of Acts 6:1–4. They helped others when they gave food to widows. Here, the word service refers to any kind of help that is done to honor Jesus. In some languages it is necessary or more natural to translate it using a verb. For example:

how you serve/help others

perseverance: This word indicates that the believers had continued to follow Jesus even though people persecuted them because of it. You should translate this word as you did in 2:2 and 1:9.

2:19c

and your latter deeds are greater than your first.

your latter deeds are greater than your first: This is a comparison. They had been doing well when they had first become believers. Now they were doing even better. Other ways to translate this comparison are:

you are doing now is greater than what you did at first (GW)

your more recent deeds are greater than your earlier ones (NET)

you did well before, and/but now you are doing even better.

what you are doing now surpasses how much you did before

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns

τὴν ἀγάπην, καὶ τὴν πίστιν, καὶ τὴν διακονίαν, καὶ τὴν ὑπομονήν σου

(Some words not found in SR-GNT: Οἶδα σοῦ τά ἔργα καί τήν ἀγάπην καί τήν πίστιν καί τήν διακονίαν καί τήν ὑπομονήν σοῦ καί τά ἔργα σοῦ τά ἔσχατα πλείονα τῶν πρώτων)

If your language would not use an abstract nouns for the ideas of love, faith, service, and endurance, you could could express the same ideas in other ways. Alternate translation: [how you have loved and trusted and served me and how you have endured]

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / ellipsis

τὰ ἔργα σου, τὰ ἔσχατα πλείονα τῶν πρώτων

(Some words not found in SR-GNT: Οἶδα σοῦ τά ἔργα καί τήν ἀγάπην καί τήν πίστιν καί τήν διακονίαν καί τήν ὑπομονήν σοῦ καί τά ἔργα σοῦ τά ἔσχατα πλείονα τῶν πρώτων)

Jesus is leaving out some of the words that in many languages a sentence would need in order to be complete. You can supply these words from the context if that would be clearer in your language. Alternate translation: [your last works are greater than the first works you did]

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

2:19 Christ emphasizes knowing and seeing all things as he praises the Thyatirans.

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.

Acknowledgements: The SR Greek text, lemmas, morphology, and VLT gloss are all thanks to the CNTR.
