UST I illustrate how to do this with how I live. I always act in ways that everyone around me accepts. I do not work hard to gain what is best for myself. Rather, I work hard to gain what is best for other people. I do this in order that God will save them.

10:31-33 Paul concludes his discussion by summarizing the two principles that are to guide Christian behavior in issues like this: (1) Believers are to do everything for the glory of God (see Col 3:17; 1 Pet 4:11); (2) believers are not to give offense and should avoid doing anything that would harm another person’s Christian faith (cp. 1 Cor 8:9, 13; 1 Jn 2:10). Christians’ behavior is to be guided by what is best for others rather than by personal privilege (cp. Rom 14:13-15, 19-21; 15:1-2). These two basic principles lie at the heart of Paul’s advice on practical Christian living in this letter.
Paul addressed believers who thought it was acceptable to eat meals in an idol’s temple. First he warned them (10:1–13). He used examples from the Old Testament to show them their danger. Then he commanded them (10:14–22). He said that no one can take part in both the Lord’s Supper and idol feasts. He said that believers are free to eat meat sold in the market place unless this will hurt someone else’s conscience (10:23–30). In summary, he said that believers should control their behavior in two ways. They should praise God in everything they do, and they should not allow their actions to harm another person (10:31–11:1).

Paul discussed whether believers can eat food that pagans offered to idols and later sold in the marketplace. He said that believers must consider not only their own freedom and rights. They must also consider the good of others, and how their actions will help non-believers to be saved.

as I also try to please everyone in all I do: Paul said that he himself did as he advised his readers to do. In some languages it may be natural to start a new sentence here. For example:
Do the same as I do. I try to please everybody in every way.
Just as I do; I try to please everyone in all that I do. (GNT)
I also try to please everyone in all I do: Paul said that he always tried to avoid giving unnecessary offense. He did not want to make it hard for people to come to know the Lord or to follow the Lord.
Here are some other ways to translate this clause:
I always try to be considerate to everyone. (REB)
I also try to make everybody satisfied in everything.
I also try not to offend anyone in any way.
For I am not seeking my own good,
I do not think about what benefits/helps me.
My goal is not my personal advantage/interests
I do not think like this: “What will be best for me?”
For: The BSB has started a new sentence and supplied the word For. See the General Comment on 10:32–33.
I am not seeking my own good: The clause I am not seeking my own good means that Paul did not act in order to get some benefit or advantage for himself.
Here are some other ways to translate this clause:
I do not seek my own benefit (NET)
without considering my own advantage (JBP)
I don’t think about what would be good for me (GW)
but the good of many,
Rather, I think about what I can do to benefit/help many people,
but the advantage/interests of all people,
Instead, I think like this: “What will be good for as many people as possible?”
but the good of many: This phrase indicates that Paul sought the good or benefit of other people. He tried to act in a way that would help others. In some languages it may be natural to translate this as a separate sentence:
Instead I am seeking the good of many other people.
many: The word many refers to all people. It contrasts with “myself” rather than with “everyone.” So, it may be good to translate it as:
all people
everybody
that they may be saved.
so that I will be able to help/cause many people to be saved.
so that they might receive/obtain salvation.
I do that so that God can rescue them from sin/wrongdoing.
that they may be saved: This was Paul’s purpose in seeking the good of others. He wanted others to be saved. Here is another way to translate this:
in the hope that many of them will be saved (CEV)
be saved: This is a passive verb.
Here are two ways to translate this passive verb:
Use a passive verb. For example:
so that they might be saved (GNT)
Use an active verb. For example:
so that they may receive salvation
so that God will save them
In the Greek text these two verses are one long sentence. The BSB has two sentences, 10:32a–33a and 10:33b–d. The NLT is a model for how to translate it using several short sentences:
32aDon’t give offense 32bto Jews or Gentiles 32cor the church of God. 33aI, too, try to please everyone in everything I do. 33bI don’t just do what is best for me; 33cI do what is best for others 33dso that many may be saved. (NLT)

Here Paul speaks of a benefit that belongs to him or to many others. By this, he refers to what is a benefit for himself or for the many others. If your language does not use the possessive form to express that idea, you can clarify that the benefit is “for” somebody. Alternate translation: [what is a benefit for me but what is a benefit for the many]

If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea behind benefit, you can express the idea by using a verb such as “benefit.” Alternate translation: [what benefits me but what benefits the many]

Paul is using the adjective many as a noun in order to describe a group of people. Your language may use adjectives in the same way. If not, you could translate this with a noun phrase. Alternate translation: [of many people] or [of everyone else]

If your language does not use the passive form in this way, you can express the idea in active form or in another way that is natural in your language. Paul uses the passive form here to focus on those who are saved rather than focusing on the person doing the “saving.” If you must state who does the action, Paul implies that “God” does it. Alternate translation: [God might save them]
