ULTAnd they forsook Yahweh and they served Baal and the Ashtoreths.

UST11-13The Israelites then did things that Yahweh had said were very evil. They worshiped different idols that represented gods such as Baal. They stopped worshiping Yahweh, the God their ancestors had worshiped. He was the one who had brought their ancestors out of Egypt. Instead, they began to worship the various gods that the people groups around them worshiped. They bowed down to those gods in order to honor them. This caused Yahweh to be very angry. When the Israelites stopped worshiping Yahweh and started worshiping Baal, they also started worshiping female fertility goddesses such as Ashtoreth.

BSBfor they forsook Him and served Baal and the Ashtoreths.

TSNTyndale Study Notes:

2:10-19 Joshua was dead, the new generation had not experienced God’s saving power, and the Canaanites continued to live in the land. What resulted was the cycle of rebellion and partial restoration. This section introduces that cycle, which the body of the book exemplifies.

UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: translate-names

וְלָעַשְׁתָּרֽוֹת

and,to_the,Ashtaroth

The word Ashtoreths is the plural of the name Ashtoreth. This was a false goddess who was worshiped in many different forms. If using the plural name in your translation would not be clear for your readers, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [many false goddesses]
