TSNTyndale Study Notes:

3:1-4 The ongoing presence of the Philistines and Canaanites in the land had an instructional purpose. Skills in warfare were necessary for survival in the ancient world. God allowed a continuing presence of enemies, but they would become his provision for Israel’s training and well-being.

UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: writing-pronouns

לֹ֥א יְדָעֽוּם

not experienced,it

This instance of the pronoun them refers to the wars against the Canaanites described in the previous verse. It may be helpful to clarify this for your readers. Alternate translation: “had not experienced these wars”
