TSNTyndale Study Notes:

13:23-26 The donkey did not run away and the lion did not eat the man’s body, a supernatural event. The old prophet immediately understood that God had clearly fulfilled his word (13:21-22) by judging disobedience.

UTNuW Translation Notes:

they came and told it

(Some words not found in UHB: and=see/lo/see! men passed_by and=they_saw DOM the,body thrown in/on/at/with,road and=DOM the,lion standing beside the,body and=they_came and,told in/on/at/with,city which/who the,prophet the,old was_sitting in/on/at/with,her )

Here “it” refers to what they had seen on the road. Alternate translation: “they came and told about what they had seen”
