וְאֶת־בֵּיתוֹ֙ בָּנָ֣ה שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה שְׁלֹ֥שׁ עֶשְׂרֵ֖ה שָׁנָ֑ה וַיְכַ֖ל אֶת־כָּל־בֵּיתֽוֹ
and=DOM (Some words not found in UHB: and=DOM house_of,his_own building Shəlomoh/(Solomon) three teen year and=they_were_ended/finished DOM all/each/any/every house_of,his )
In this verse, the author is introducing a new event in the story, Solomon building his house or palace. Use a word, phrase, or other method in your language that is natural for introducing a new event.
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / hendiadys
וְאֶת־בֵּיתוֹ֙ בָּנָ֣ה שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה שְׁלֹ֥שׁ עֶשְׂרֵ֖ה שָׁנָ֑ה וַיְכַ֖ל אֶת־כָּל־בֵּיתֽוֹ
and=DOM (Some words not found in UHB: and=DOM house_of,his_own building Shəlomoh/(Solomon) three teen year and=they_were_ended/finished DOM all/each/any/every house_of,his )
Together, the verbs built and finished express a single idea. The word finished tells to what degree Solomon built his palace over the course of these 13 years, that is, to completion. If it would be more natural in your language, you could express this meaning in a different way. Alternate translation: [And then Solomon took 13 years to finish building his house] or [And Solomon completed constructing his palace after a further 13 years]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / synecdoche
וְאֶת & בָּנָ֣ה שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה
and=DOM & (Some words not found in UHB: and=DOM house_of,his_own building Shəlomoh/(Solomon) three teen year and=they_were_ended/finished DOM all/each/any/every house_of,his )
See how you translated the similar expression in [2:26](../02/26.md). Alternate translation: [And Solomon had his workers build]
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit
בֵּיתוֹ֙
(Some words not found in UHB: and=DOM house_of,his_own building Shəlomoh/(Solomon) three teen year and=they_were_ended/finished DOM all/each/any/every house_of,his )
The term house in this chapter usually refers to Solomon’s entire palace complex, which included the House of the Forest of Lebanon ([7:2–5](../07/02.md)), the Porch of Pillars ([7:6](../07/06.md)), the Porch of the Throne ([7:7](../07/07.md)), Solomon’s personal residence ([7:8](../07/08.md)), and the surrounding courtyard ([7:12](../07/12.md)). However, in ([7:8](../07/08.md)) the author refers to Solomon’s residence itself as his “house.” So you may wish to use a term other than “house” in your translation to refer to the entire complex. Alternate translation: [his palace]
