Note: This view shows ‘verses’ which are not natural language units and hence sometimes only part of a sentence will be visible. Normally the OET discourages the reading of individual ‘verses’, but this view is only designed for doing comparisons of different translations. Click on any Bible version abbreviation down the left-hand side to see the verse in more of its context. The OET segments on this page are still very early looks into the unfinished texts of the Open English Translation of the Bible. Please double-check these texts in advance before using in public.

Convenienter ergo habebat duas tunicas. Apostoli vero qui dicturi erant: Si circumcidimini, Christus nihil vobis proderit Gal. 5., et litteralem observantiam penitus reprobaturi, merito duas tunicas habere prohibentur; sufficit eis una, et hæc interior, eam vero quæ foris est legis tunicam nolunt, quia unam Jesus et ipsam interiorem habere permittit.
8.3 And congregabis. Conhe_called Moyses omnem synagogam, quamvis Master elegisset and præcepisset, conis_called tamen synagoga: requiritur because in ordinando sacerdote præsentia of_the_people, as sciant everyone and certi sint because who præstantior it_is from all to_the_people, doctior, sanctior and virtute eminentior, ille eligitur to sacerdotium. Lavit therefore him and induit. Quali indumento? tunica, and præcinxit him zona. And again: Vestivit him tunicam talarem Eccli. 45., vel, as alibi legimus, interiorem II Reg. 15.. Video however duabus tunicis indutum pontificem. Yesus however prohibet apostolos duabus tunicis indui, when/with Moyses and Yesus, id it_is lex and the_Gospel convenire debeant Matth. 10.. Dicunt alii that Yesus ordered duas tunicas not/no habere, not/no esse contrarium legi, but perfectius lege: like and when/with lex homicidium vetat Exod. 20., Yesus vero iracundiam resecat Matth. 5.; and when/with lex prohibet adulterium, Yesus vero concupiscentiam abscidit. I not/no intra huyus intelligentiæ angustiam, pontificalia sacramenta concludo: amplius to_me aliquid from ista forma videtur ostendi. Sciebat pontifex ille, which tunc ordinabat Moses, because circumcisio was spiritualis: servabat tamen and circumcisionem carnis, because incircumcisus esse not/no poterat, habeba therefore duas tunicas, unam carnalis mysterii, aliam intelligentiæ spiritualis. Non because poterat esse pontifex their who tunc erant, nisi carnalia sacrificia offerret, quamvis spiritualia esse debere sciret. Convenienter therefore had duas tunicas. Apostoli vero who dicturi erant: When/But_if circumcidimini, Christus nihil to_you proderit Gal. 5., and litteralem observantiam penitus reprobaturi, merito duas tunicas habere prohibentur; sufficit to_them una, and these_things interior, her vero which foris it_is legis tunicam nolunt, because unam Yesus and ipsam interiorem habere permittit.
8:1-36 In Exod 28–29, the Lord gave Moses specific instructions for clothing and for ordaining Aaron and his sons as priests. In Exod 39:1-31; 40:12-16; and Lev 8, the commands were carried out. Moses didn’t just pass along the instructions verbally; he enacted the rituals to provide an example for the priests down to the last detail, just as the Lord had commanded him (8:9, 13, 17, 21, 29). Because the penalty for disobedience was death, God made sure the priests knew exactly what to do.
