Normally the OET discourages the reading of individual ‘verses’, but this view is only designed as a tool for doing comparisons of different translations. Click on any Bible version abbreviation down the left-hand side to see the verse in more of its context. The OET segments on this page are still very early looks into the unfinished texts of the Open English Translation of the Bible. Please double-check these texts in advance before using in public.

Convenienter ergo habebat duas tunicas. Apostoli vero qui dicturi erant: Si circumcidimini, Christus nihil vobis proderit Gal. 5., et litteralem observantiam penitus reprobaturi, merito duas tunicas habere prohibentur; sufficit eis una, et hæc interior, eam vero quæ foris est legis tunicam nolunt, quia unam Jesus et ipsam interiorem habere permittit.
8.3 And congregabis. ConI_calledt Moyses all synagoguem, although/however Master I_chosesset and beforecepisset, convocatur nevertheless synagogue: requiritur because in/into/on ordinando sacerdote beforesentia of_the_people, as sciant everyone and certi let_them_be because who beforestantior it_is from all to_the_people, doctior, sanctior and by_virtue eminentior, he eligitur to sacerdotium. Lavit therefore him and induit. Quali indumento? tunica, and beforecinxit him zona. And again: Vestivit him tunicam talarem Eccli. 45., vel, as alibi legimus, interiorem II Reg. 15.. Seeo however two tunicis indutum pontificem. Yesus however prohibet apostles two tunicis indui, when/with Moyses and Yesus, id it_is the_law and the_Gospel convenire debeant Matth. 10.. Sayunt others that Yesus ordered two tunicas not/no to_have, not/no to_be contrarium legi, but perfectius lawfully: like and when/with the_law homicidium vetat Exod. 20., Yesus indeed/however anger resecat Matth. 5.; and when/with the_law prohibet adulterium, Yesus indeed/however concupiscentiam abscidit. I not/no intra of_this intelligentiæ distressm, pontificalia sacramenta concludo: more to_me something from these_(ones) forma it_seems show. Sciebat pontifex ille, which then ordinabat Moses, because circumcisio was in_spiritalis: servabat nevertheless and circumcisionem carnis, because incircumcisus to_be not/no he_could, habeba therefore two tunicas, one carnalis mysterii, another intelligentiæ in_spiritalis. Not/No because he_could to_be pontifex their who then they_were, except carnalia sacrificia offerret, although/however in_spiritalia to_be debere sciret. Convenienter therefore had two tunicas. Apostoli indeed/however who sayturi they_were: When/But_if circumcidimini, Christ nothing to_you it_will_help Gal. 5., and litteralem observantiam penitus reprobaturi, merito two tunicas to_have prohibentur; sufficit to_them together, and these_things interior, her indeed/however which outside it_is law tunicam nolunt, because one Yesus and itself interiorem to_have permittit.

8:1-36 In Exod 28–29, the Lord gave Moses specific instructions for clothing and for ordaining Aaron and his sons as priests. In Exod 39:1-31; 40:12-16; and Lev 8, the commands were carried out. Moses didn’t just pass along the instructions verbally; he enacted the rituals to provide an example for the priests down to the last detail, just as the Lord had commanded him (8:9, 13, 17, 21, 29). Because the penalty for disobedience was death, God made sure the priests knew exactly what to do.
