TSNTyndale Study Notes:

19:1-10 This section expands the message of the sixth song of response (18:20; see study note on 18:1-24), which called for rejoicing. Various groups direct praises to the Lord. The praises can be divided into two sections: thankfulness for the destruction of the evildoers (19:1-4) and thankfulness for the reward of God’s people (19:5-8).

UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / simile

ὡς φωνὴν ὄχλου πολλοῦ, καὶ ὡς φωνὴν ὑδάτων πολλῶν, καὶ ὡς φωνὴν βροντῶν ἰσχυρῶν

like /the/_voice ˱of˲_/a/_crowd great and as /the/_sound ˱of˲_waters many and like /a/_sound ˱of˲_thunders mighty

The point of this comparison is that the sound was very loud. If it would be helpful in your language, you could make this point explicitly. Alternate translation: [a sound that was very loud, like the sound of a great crowd or many waters or powerful thunder]

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom

ὑδάτων πολλῶν

˱of˲_waters many

By many waters, John could mean a loud waterfall or raging floodwaters. See how you translated the similar expression in 1:15. Alternate translation: [of a waterfall] or [of raging floodwaters]

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / exclusive

ἡμῶν

˱of˲_us

The person speaking here is likely continuing to address those who serve and fear God. So by our, the speaker means himself and them, so use the inclusive form of that word in your translation if your language marks that distinction.
