In this section Paul discussed some problems with how the believers in Corinth ate the Lord’s Supper. Some people started eating and did not wait for others to arrive. Some people ate too much while others had little or nothing.
Christians should eat the Lord’s Supper in order to remember the Lord Jesus. They should repent from sin before eating and drinking, and they should wait for everyone to arrive before beginning the Supper. If anyone is hungry, they should eat at home so that they do not come under judgment.

In this paragraph Paul taught believers to examine themselves before eating the Lord’s Supper, so that God will not judge them.

But: The Greek conjunction that the BSB translates as But introduces a contrast to the previous verse. Here are some ways to translate this conjunction:

when we are judged by the Lord: This is a passive clause. In some languages it may be more natural to use an active verb and make the Lord the subject:
When the Lord judges us
we: Paul was not one of the people in Corinth, but he used an inclusive pronoun to suggest that the same thing applied to everyone, including himself. The Lord judges all his people for their good.
the Lord: It is not clear whether the Lord refers to God or to Christ. It is best to translate literally in such a way that either meaning is possible.
we are being disciplined
he is disciplining us(incl)
he is teaching us
we are being disciplined: This is a passive phrase. In some languages it may be more natural to use an active verb and supply the subject “he” or “the Lord.” For example:
the Lord is disciplining us
disciplined: To “discipline” someone is to correct them and punish them in order to help them do what is right. The word is generally used of the way parents and teachers train and teach children.
Here is another way to translate this word:
the Lord is teaching/training us
so that we will not be condemned with the world.
so that he will not have to condemn us(incl) with the rest of the world.
in order that we(incl) will not receive punishment with the unbelieving world when God judges them on the last day.
so that we will not be condemned with the world: This gives the purpose of the Lord’s discipline. The Lord disciplined the Corinthians so that they will stop their bad behavior. If they stop their bad behavior then the Lord will not condemn them with the rest of the world.
Here are some other ways to translate this clause:
the Lord is disciplining us to save us from being condemned with the world
he wants us to escape when he punishes the world
we will not be condemned: This is a passive phrase. In some languages it may be more natural to use an active verb. For example:
the Lord will not condemn us
condemned with the world: This refers to God’s judgment at the end of the world. It may be clearer to add this as implied information:
condemned with the world on the last day
condemned with the world on the day when God judges all people
the world: The word world refers to the people of this world who oppose God. God will not condemn believers along with these people. But in a sense the believers are part of the world. It may be natural to translate this as:
the rest of the world
those who don’t trust in him

If it would be helpful in your language, you could express how these two phrases relate by stating their relationship explicitly. Alternate translation: [when we are judged by the Lord, we are disciplined] or [being judged by the Lord is how we are disciplined]

Paul uses the passive form here to focus on we instead of focusing on the person doing the actions. However, if you must state who does the actions, Paul implies that “God” or the Lord does them. Alternate translation: [he disciplines us so that he does not condemn us] or [he disciplines us so that God does not condemn us]

τῷ κόσμῳ
the world
Here Paul uses world to refer primarily to the humans that are part of the world, those who do not believe in Christ. If it would be helpful in your language, you could express the meaning of this word by translating world with a word or phrase that refers to people who do not believe in Christ, or you could use a phrase like “people of the world.” Alternate translation: [the people of the world]
11:32 When God’s people are judged by the Lord and disciplined (cp. Deut 8:5; Heb 12:5-11), it is for their ultimate good, so that they will not be condemned along with the world (see Eph 2:1-3).
