OET (OET-LV) Forty_times he_will_strike_him not he_will_increase lest he_should_increase to_strike_him to these a_blow much your(ms)_brother/kindred and_he_will_be_dishonoured to_eyes_of_your.

פֶּן־יֹסִ֨יף לְהַכֹּת֤וֹ עַל־אֵ֨לֶּה֙ מַכָּ֣ה רַבָּ֔ה וְנִקְלָ֥ה אָחִ֖יךָ לְעֵינֶֽיךָ
(Some words not found in UHB: forty he,will_strike_him not more lest more to,strike, him on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in these stripes enough/great(fs) and,he_will_be_dishonored your(ms)=brother/kindred to,eyes_of,your )
Moses is using the word translated as lest to introduce an outcome that he does not want to happen. Because of this, he first gives the judge an instruction to follow so that this will not happen. Use a connector in your language that makes it clear that avoiding this outcome is the purpose of the instruction. Alternate translation: [in order to prevent him from giving any more blows than these and humiliating your brother before your eyes]
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
אָחִ֖יךָ
your(ms)=brother/kindred
Moses is using the term brother to describe someone who is descended from the same ancestor. If it would be helpful in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [your fellow Israelite] or [this person]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive
וְנִקְלָ֥ה אָחִ֖יךָ
and,he_will_be_dishonored your(ms)=brother/kindred
The expression is humiliated is a passive verbal form. If your language would not use that form, you could express the idea in active form or in another way that is natural in your language. Alternate translation: [and he becomes ashamed] or [and he feels deep shame]
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy
לְעֵינֶֽיךָ
to,eyes_of,your
See how you translated the phrase “before your eyes” in [1:30](../01/30.md). Alternate translation: [in your sight]
OET (OET-LV) Forty_times he_will_strike_him not he_will_increase lest he_should_increase to_strike_him to these a_blow much your(ms)_brother/kindred and_he_will_be_dishonoured to_eyes_of_your.
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
Acknowledgements: The Hebrew text, lemmas, and morphology are all thanks to the OSHB and some of the glosses are from Macula Hebrew.
