Note 1 topic: translate-names
הַזַּרְחִ֑י & הַזַּרְחִי֙
the,Zerahites & the,Zerahites
The word Zerahite is the name of a clan made up of the descendants of the man named Zerah who was the great-grandfather of Achan mentioned in 7:1. Express this relationship by descent in the terms that your culture would use. Alternate translation: “the Zerahites … the Zerahites” or “the descendants of Zerah … the descendants of Zerah”
Note 2 topic: metonymy
זַבְדִּֽי
(Some words not found in UHB: and,brought_near DOM clans Yehuda and, selected DOM clan the,Zerahites and,come_forward DOM clan the,Zerahites by_the,heads_of_families and, taken Zaⱱdiy )
The author is using the name Zabdi by association to mean his “house” or extended family, as 7:14 indicates. Zabdi was the grandfather of Achan, and Achan would have been included in his extended family. Alternate translation: “the extended family of Zabdi”
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive
וַיִּלְכֹּ֕ד אֵ֖ת מִשְׁפַּ֣חַת הַזַּרְחִ֑י & וַיִּלָּכֵ֖ד זַבְדִּֽי
and,selected DOM clan the,Zerahites & and,taken Zaⱱdiy
See how you translated the similar passive expression in 7:16.
7:1-26 Now that Jericho belonged to Israel, Joshua’s first military problem involved securing a foothold in the hill country. The conquest of Jericho inspired Israel’s confidence and consigned the people of Canaan to discouragement and despair. Yet everything hinged on Israel’s obedience to God. One man’s sin and its consequences demonstrate how serious was the command to destroy Jericho (see “Complete Dedication” Theme Note).

OET (OET-RV) Then each of the clans came forward and the Zerahite clan was singled out, and when their families came forwards, Zabdi’s household was singled out.
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
