OET (OET-LV) And_people_told to/for_the_king to_say HERE Nātān the_prophet and_he_came to_(the)_face_of/in_front_of/before the_king and_he_bowed_down to/for_the_king on face_of_his ground_to_the.
OET (OET-RV) and his arrival was announced to the king. He went into the room and knelt in front of the king and bowed his face to the floor.
Note 1 topic: writing-pronouns
וַיַּגִּ֤ידוּ לַמֶּ֨לֶךְ֙
(Some words not found in UHB: and,people_told to/for=the_king to=say see/lo/see! Nātān the,prophet and,he_came to=(the)_face_of/in_front_of/before the=king and,he_bowed_down to/for=the_king on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in face_of,his ground,to_[the] )
Here the author is using the pronoun they in a general sense, not to refer to specific people. Use an expression for this that would be natural in your language. Alternate translation: [And the king was told]
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / ellipsis
נָתָ֣ן הַנָּבִ֑יא
Nātān (Some words not found in UHB: and,people_told to/for=the_king to=say see/lo/see! Nātān the,prophet and,he_came to=(the)_face_of/in_front_of/before the=king and,he_bowed_down to/for=the_king on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in face_of,his ground,to_[the] )
The person speaking to David is leaving out some of the words that in many languages a sentence would need in order to be complete. You can supply these words from the context if that would be clearer in your language. Alternate translation: [Nathan the prophet is here]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy
לִפְנֵ֣י הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ
to=(the)_face_of/in_front_of/before (Some words not found in UHB: and,people_told to/for=the_king to=say see/lo/see! Nātān the,prophet and,he_came to=(the)_face_of/in_front_of/before the=king and,he_bowed_down to/for=the_king on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in face_of,his ground,to_[the] )
Here, to the face of represents being in the presence of the king. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use an equivalent expression or plain language. Alternate translation: [into the presence of the king]
Note 4 topic: translate-symaction
וַיִּשְׁתַּ֧חוּ לַמֶּ֛לֶךְ עַל־אַפָּ֖יו אָֽרְצָה
(Some words not found in UHB: and,people_told to/for=the_king to=say see/lo/see! Nātān the,prophet and,he_came to=(the)_face_of/in_front_of/before the=king and,he_bowed_down to/for=the_king on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in face_of,his ground,to_[the] )
The phrase prostrated himself to the king with his nose to the ground was a symbolic action by which Nathan showed complete submission and respect to King David. If it would be helpful to your readers, you could explain the significance of this action in the text of your translation or in a footnote. The UST models one way to do that.
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
Acknowledgements: The Hebrew text, lemmas, and morphology are all thanks to the OSHB and some of the glosses are from Macula Hebrew.
