וַעֲלִיתֶ֣ם אַחֲרָ֗יו
and,you(pl)_will_come_up after,him
Going up after Solomon, that is, having him lead the way back to Jerusalem while they followed, was a symbolic action by which the people showed their support for Solomon as the new king. If it would be helpful to your readers, you could explain the significance of this action in the text of your translation or in a footnote. Alternate translation: [And you shall walk behind him to show your support as he leads the way back here to Jerusalem]

Sitting on David’s throne was a symbolic action by which Solomon showed that he was becoming king with authority over Israel and Judah. If it would be helpful to your readers, you could explain the significance of this action in the text of your translation or in a footnote. Alternate translation: [and he shall come and take authority as king] or [and he shall come and assume his role as king]

וְה֥וּא יִמְלֹ֖ךְ תַּחְתָּ֑י
and=he be_king (Some words not found in UHB: and,you(pl)_will_come_up after,him and,he_will_come and,he_will_sit on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in throne_of,my and=he be_king in,place_of_me and,,him appointed to=be ruler on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in Yisrael and,over Yehuda )
David is stating the pronoun he separately, even though the verb translated as he will reign already includes this meaning. He is doing that to emphasize the personal role of Solomon as the one who will reign in his place. See how you translated the similar expression “you, you swore” in [1:17](../01/17.md). Alternate translation: [and he is the one who will reign in my place]
OET (OET-LV) And_you(pl)_will_come_up after_him and_he_will_come and_he_will_sit on throne_of_my and_he he_will_reign in_place_of_me and_him I_have_appointed to_be ruler over Yisrāʼēl/(Israel) and_over Yəhūdāh/(Judah).
OET (OET-RV) Then follow him back here where he must come and sit on my throne. Then he’ll reign in my place as ruler of Yisrael and Yehudah.”
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
