OET (OET-LV) And_he_answered the_king Shəlomoh/(Solomon) and_he/it_said to_mother_of_his and_why are_you asking DOM ʼAⱱīshag the_Shūnammit for_ʼAdoniyyāh and_ask to_him/it DOM the_royalty if/because he my_brother/kindred (the)_old more_than_me and_to/for_him/it and_for_ʼEⱱyātār the_priest/officer and_for_Yōʼāⱱ/(Joab) the_son_of Tsərūyāh/(Zeruiah).
OET (OET-RV) King Shelomoh answered his mother, “You’re requesting Avishag the Shunammite for Adoniyah! You might as well request the throne for him, because he’s my brother and he’s older than I am! And then he’ll want Evyatar the priest and Tseruyah’s son Yoav!”

See how you translated the similar expression in [1:28](../01/28.md). Alternate translation: [And King Solomon answered his mother]

וְלָמָה֩ אַ֨תְּ שֹׁאֶ֜לֶת אֶת־אֲבִישַׁ֤ג הַשֻּׁנַמִּית֙ לַאֲדֹ֣נִיָּ֔הוּ

Solomon is using the question form to express strong disapproval. If a speaker of your language would not use the question form for that purpose, you could translate this as a statement or as an exclamation. Alternate translation: [You should not be requesting Abishag the Shunammitess for Adonijah!]

וְשַֽׁאֲלִי־לוֹ֙ אֶת־הַמְּלוּכָ֔ה כִּ֛י ה֥וּא אָחִ֖י הַגָּד֣וֹל מִמֶּ֑נִּי

If it would be more natural in your language, you could reverse the order of these phrases, since the second phrase gives the reason for the result that the first phrase describes. Alternate translation: [Then, since he is my brother, older than me, request for him the kingdom]
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / irony
וְשַֽׁאֲלִי־לוֹ֙ אֶת־הַמְּלוּכָ֔ה
(Some words not found in UHB: and,he_answered the=king Shəlomoh/(Solomon) and=he/it_said to,mother_of,his and,,why? you asking DOM ʼAⱱīshag the,Shunammite for,Adonijah and,ask to=him/it DOM the=royalty that/for/because/then/when he/it my=brother/kindred (the),old more,than_me and=to/for=him/it and,for,Abiathar the=priest/officer and,for,Joab son_of Tsərūyāh/(Zeruiah) )
In this figure of speech, Solomon actually means to communicate the opposite of the literal meaning of what he says. He does not really want his mother to request the kingdom for Adonijah. Instead, he is expressing his anger at what she has already requested, suggesting that she might as well ask for the kingdom itself. If a speaker of your language would not do that, you could translate the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [By asking this, you are effectively asking me to let him become the king]
Note 5 topic: translate-symaction
Solomon’s response shows that requesting to marry the previous king’s consort was a symbolic action equivalent to claiming the throne. If it would be helpful to your readers, you could explain the significance of this request in the text of your translation or in a footnote. Alternate translation: [By asking that I allow him to marry a woman who was a consort of the previous king, you are effectively asking me to let him become the king]
Note 6 topic: grammar-connect-words-phrases
וְלוֹ֙ וּלְאֶבְיָתָ֣ר
and=to/for=him/it and,for,Abiathar
If the connection between this statement and the previous one is not clear, you may want to use a different connecting word to show how this statement relates to what comes before it. Alternate translation: [and not only for him, but also for Abiathar]

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
