The psalmist is using a hypothetical situation to help his listeners appreciate how confidently they can trust God to protect them. Use the natural form in your language for expressing a hypothetical situation. Alternate translation: [Suppose a thousand fell at your side. Suppose a myriad fell at your right hand. Even then, it would not approach toward you]

The psalmist is leaving out some of the words that in many languages a sentence would need in order to be complete. You can supply these words from the context if that would be clearer in your language. Alternate translation: [A thousand may fall at your side, and a myriad may fall at your right hand]

The psalmist is using the term fall to mean “die,” since people typically fall down when they die. Be sure that it is clear in your translation that he is not referring to people falling down accidentally. Alternate translation: [A thousand may die at your side, and a myriad may die at your right hand]

The pronoun it refers to any deadly danger such as the psalmist has described in verses 5 and 6. It may be helpful to clarify this for your readers. Alternate translation: [no deadly dangerous thing will approach toward you]

Since the psalmist says that people may die right next to and all around the individual whom he is addressing, he does not mean that danger will actually not even approach that individual. Rather, he is using this expression as an overstatement to mean that dangerous things will not kill him. If it would be helpful in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [no deadly dangerous thing will kill you]
