OET (OET-LV)On palms bear_up_you lest you_should_strike in/on/at/with_stone foot_of_your.

OET (OET-RV)They’ll lift you up in their hands,
⇔ so that you won’t hit your foot on a rock.

uW Translation Notes:

They will lift you

(Some words not found in UHB: on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in hands bear_~_up,,you lest strike in/on/at/with,stone foot_of,your )

Alternate translation: “Yahweh’s angels will lift you”

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / hyperbole

you will not hit your foot on a stone

(Some words not found in UHB: on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in hands bear_~_up,,you lest strike in/on/at/with,stone foot_of,your )

The angels will protect not only the reader’s foot but the rest of his body as well. The words “not … hit your foot on a stone” is an exaggerated metonym to say that not even small bad things will happen. This should probably not be taken as a promise that no bad things will ever happen again. Alternate translation: “you will not even hit your foot on a stone” or “not even the smallest bad thing will happen to you” (See also: figs-synecdoche and figs-metonymy)

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

Ps 91 This wisdom psalm expresses confidence in the Almighty God, who provides a shelter for those who take refuge in him. They receive redemption, life, and glory from the Lord, who loves and cares for those who seek him.
