and ˱it˲_will_be in the place where ˱it˲_/was/_said ˱to˲_them not /the/_people ˱of˲_me you_all_‹are› there ˱they˲_/will_be_being/_called sons ˱of˲_God /the/_living
This verse is a quotation from Hosea 1:10. It may be helpful to your readers to indicate this by setting off all of this material with quotation marks or with whatever punctuation or convention your language uses to indicate a quotation.
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive
ἐρρέθη
˱it˲_/was/_said
If your language does not use the passive form in this way, you can state this in active form or in another way that is natural in your language. The context indicates that God said this in first person. Alternate translation: “I said”
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive
κληθήσονται
˱they˲_/will_be_being/_called
If your language does not use the passive form in this way, you can state this in active form or in another way that is natural in your language. The one doing the action could be: (1) God. Alternate translation: “I will call them” (2) people in general. Alternate translation: “people will call them”
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
υἱοὶ Θεοῦ ζῶντος
sons ˱of˲_God /the/_living
See how you translated sons in 8:14.
Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom
Θεοῦ ζῶντος
˱of˲_God /the/_living
Here, the living God could refer to: (1) God being the one who lives. Alternate translation: “the God who is alive” (2) God being the one who makes living things become alive. Alternate translation: “the God who gives life” or “the God who makes alive”
9:24-26 God was free to select people from the Jews who would have a true spiritual relationship with him; similarly, he was also free to choose some from the Gentiles to be saved as well. Paul uses the prophecy of Hosea to reinforce his point. Hosea predicted that God would renew his mercy to the ten northern tribes that had rebelled against God and were under his judgment. Paul saw a principle that applies to Gentiles as well.
• Those who were not my people: See study note on 10:19.
OET (OET-LV) And it_will_be in the place where it_was_said to_them:
Not the_people of_me you_all are, there they_will_be_being_called sons of_god the_living.
OET (OET-RV) In the place where they said,
⇔ ‘You’re not my people’
⇔ that’s where they’ll be called ‘children of the living God’.”
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
