OET (OET-LV) Thus YHWH may_he_do to_Yōnātān and_also may_he_add if/because it_will_make_good to father_of_my DOM the_harm on_you and_disclose DOM ear_of_you and_send_away_you and_go in_safety and_let_it_be YHWH with_you just_as he_has_been with father_of_my.
OET (OET-RV) But if he’s planning evil for you, may Yahweh punish me similarly or even worse if I don’t inform you, and send you away so you can leave in peace. And may Yahweh be with you just like he used to be with my father.

כֹּֽה־יַעֲשֶׂה֩ יְהוָ֨ה לִֽיהוֹנָתָ֜ן וְכֹ֣ה יֹסִ֗יף
so he/it_made/did YHWH to,Jonathan and,also more
In this verse, Jonathan is describing what he will do by contrast if his father indeed intends to harm David. It may be helpful to indicate the contrast explicitly. Alternate translation: [But thus may Yahweh do to Jonathan, and thus may he add]
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / 123person
כֹּֽה־יַעֲשֶׂה֩ יְהוָ֨ה לִֽיהוֹנָתָ֜ן וְכֹ֣ה יֹסִ֗יף
so he/it_made/did YHWH to,Jonathan and,also more
It was customary in this culture for a person swearing an oath to speak of himself in the third person. If it would be helpful in your language, you could translate this in the first person. Alternate translation: [Thus may Yahweh do to me, and thus may he add]
Note 3 topic: writing-oathformula
כֹּֽה־יַעֲשֶׂה֩ יְהוָ֨ה לִֽיהוֹנָתָ֜ן וְכֹ֣ה יֹסִ֗יף
so he/it_made/did YHWH to,Jonathan and,also more
Jonathan is swearing an oath. See how you translated the similar expression in [14:44](../14/44.md). Alternate translation: [May Yahweh kill me, and may he do even worse than that to me, if I do not keep the following promise]
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy
כִּֽי־יֵיטִ֨ב אֶל־אָבִ֤י אֶת־הָֽרָעָה֙ עָלֶ֔יךָ
that/for/because/then/when please to/towards father_of,my DOM the,harm on,you
The phrase good to my father seems to be a shorter form of the expression “good in the eyes of my father.” Alternate translation: [if it seems good to my father to harm you] or [if my father intends to harm you]
Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom
וְגָלִ֨יתִי֙ אֶת־אָזְנֶ֔ךָ
and,disclose DOM ear_of,you
Jonathan is using a common expression of his culture. See how you translated the similar expression in the previous verse. Alternate translation: [then I will tell you]
Note 6 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit
וְגָלִ֨יתִי֙ אֶת־אָזְנֶ֔ךָ
and,disclose DOM ear_of,you
Jonathan is stressing that if David needs to flee for his life, then he will come and tell him that in person. He will not send a messenger with that news. Alternate translation: [then I will come and tell you personally]
Note 7 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns
וְהָלַכְתָּ֣ לְשָׁל֑וֹם
and,go in,safety
If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea of peace, you could express the same idea in another way. Alternate translation: [so you may safely escape]
Note 8 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom
וִיהִ֤י יְהוָה֙ עִמָּ֔ךְ כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר הָיָ֖ה עִם־אָבִֽי
and=let_it_be YHWH with,you just=as it_became with father_of,my
See how you translated the comparable expression in [3:19](../03/19.md). Alternate translation: [And may Yahweh help you just as he helped my father]
20:13 may the Lord strike me: Jonathan invoked a curse upon himself to reassure David that he would keep his promise.
• as he used to be with my father: Jonathan recognized that David had received the blessing from God that his father had once had. The divine favor that had brought Saul into royal office (9:14–10:1) would bring David into royal office as Saul’s replacement. Jonathan accepted this even though he was the natural successor to Saul.
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
