19:26 Note: KJB: 2Sam.19.25
OET (OET-RV) “My master the king,” Mefiboshet replied, “my servant deceived me. I, your servant, had said to get my donkey saddled so I could ride it and go with you, because as you know, your servant is lame.

If it would be clearer in your language, you could translate this so that there is not a quotation within a quotation. Alternate translation: [for your servant told him to saddle a donkey for me and let me ride on it so that I could go with you]

אֶחְבְּשָׁה־לִּי֩ הַחֲמ֨וֹר

Mephibosheth was speaking of himself as the one who would actively saddle a donkey for himself, but this was a way of instructing Ziba to saddle a donkey for him. If it would be clearer in your language, you could use an imperative form. Alternate translation: [Saddle a donkey for me] or [Make it possible for me to have a saddled donkey for myself]

Here the word For introduces not a reason but an explanation. Alternate translation: [After all]

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
