TSNTyndale Study Notes:

25:42 The same Hebrew word is translated as both servants and slaves. Because the Israelites were God’s slaves/servants, they could not be slaves/servants to other human beings, except temporarily to work off a debt.

UTNuW Translation Notes:

עֲבָדַ֣י הֵ֔ם

servants,my they

Alternate translation: “your fellow countrymen are my servants”

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive

לֹ֥א יִמָּכְר֖וּ מִמְכֶּ֥רֶת עָֽבֶד

not sold sold slaves

If your language does not use the passive form in this way, you can state this in active form or in another way that is natural in your language. Alternate translation: “You must not sell them as slaves”
