TSNTyndale Study Notes:

3:32 Eleazar, Aaron’s third son, presided over the Levites as administrator (perhaps as an executive secretary), while his father dealt with other matters; he had special . . . oversight of the Tabernacle (4:16-20). He played an important role in Israel’s wilderness period and later succeeded his father as high priest (see 16:37-39; 19:3-6; 20:25-28; 26:1-3).

UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / ellipsis

פְּקֻדַּ֕ת

oversight

Moses is leaving out some of the words that in many languages a sentence would need in order to be complete. You could supply these words from earlier in the sentence if it would be clearer in your language. Alternate translation: “he had the oversight”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns

פְּקֻדַּ֕ת

oversight

If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea of oversight, you could express the same idea in another way. Alternate translation: “overseeing”
