Since Luke describes in the next verse how believers from Rome came some distance to meet Paul and his companions on their way to Rome, by thus he means that after staying with the believers in Puteoli for seven days, they continued on their way to Rome. In a context such as this, your language might say “came” instead of went. Alternate translation: [we came near Rome]
